Between is a visual manifesto exploring the complex emotions that exist beyond happiness. Alongside my four other co-directors, we aimed to create an abstract film that decentered happiness and embraced the full spectrum of human feeling-- joy, love, anger, sorrow, and everything in between. Over two weeks, we executed the project across four different locations and dates, working closely with five diverse talented to bring this love letter to nuanced emotional experience to life.
Process & Creative Approach:
Our central question was: How do we diversify our command of emotional language?
We recognize that emotions carry weight-- some as light as air, others heavy on the shoulders. Each emotion serves a purpose in shaping our lives and identities. This project challenges the motion that happiness is the ultimate goal, instead honoring the intricate tapestry of feelings that makes us human.
Through abstract visuals and storytelling, we aimed to give space to emotions that are often overlooked or hard to articulate-- the heaviness felt but unspoken, the ambiguity between joy and sorrow, and the beauty in embracing emotional complexity rather than avoiding it.
