Pierrette is my reimagining of a character who has historically been casted as an accessory to Pierrot. I wanted to reclaim her as the protagonist of her own narrative, one that embodies femininity not as a flat symbol, but something layered, rebellious, and alive. This project became a way for me to explore femininity against systems of power that have often reduced women.
Process & Execution:
I worked with bold bursts of color, patterned stockings, and utilized makeup to create an unsettling expression against a flat background. These choices were deliberate stylistic rebellion as a form of resistance. Pierrette became a study in both visual disruption and reclamation. At its core, this work is more than just imagery it's about reframing the gaze. I wanted Pierrette to hold space as her own, unapologetic subject, challenging archetypes and carving out an identity that refuses to be secondary.
